Morse strongly believes that including attorneys and staff members from diverse backgrounds is a critically important element in providing exceptional legal services to our clients and a productive working environment for our team members. In furtherance of our efforts to recruit, retain, and promote highly skilled attorneys who contribute to the diversity of our firm, we are pleased to offer the Morse Fellowship. The Morse Fellowship program aims to provide training and mentorship opportunities critical to a law student’s professional development. Each year, Morse Fellows are selected from a competitive pool of applicants and are invited to join the firm for 8-10 weeks during the summer between their 1L and 2L academic years. Students selected as Morse Fellows will receive a $5000 cash stipend.

Eligibility:

Law students encouraged to apply to the Morse Fellowship program include members of diverse populations that have been historically underrepresented in the legal profession, including but not limited to racial, ethnic, and gender minorities, members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community, first-generation college and/or graduate students, disabled individuals, veterans and socio-economic minorities. In addition, to be eligible an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be in good standing as a 1L student at an ABA-accredited law school;

  • Be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States; • Demonstrate academic achievement and leadership skills;

  • Have not accepted a diversity award or fellowship from another law firm; and

  • Demonstrate a commitment to practicing law in the Boston-area after graduation.

Selection criteria Morse Fellows will be selected based on consideration of the following factors:

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion;

  • Undergraduate and law school academic performance;

  • Demonstrated leadership ability; and

  • Community service.

Application process:

Interested law students should send the following materials to morsefellowship@morse.law:

  • A personal statement (not to exceed more than one single-spaced page in length) that describes the applicant’s interest in participating in the Morse Fellowship program and how the applicant will contribute meaningfully to diversity initiatives in the legal profession.

  • Current resume. {M1727852.1 } • Undergraduate transcript and graduate program transcripts (if applicable); unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

  • 1L first-semester law school transcript. Applications will be accepted until the earlier of May 1, 2022 or when both fellowship positions have been filled. Selected applicants will be contacted on a rolling basis to arrange for personal interviews. All interviews for the 2022 Morse Fellowship program will be conducted virtually.
