1L Diversity Clerkship

The Boston Lawyers Group (BLG) is seeking applicants for the 2022 1L Diversity Clerkship Program. 

The BLG is a consortium of more than 40 members that include large and mid-size law firms, prominent government organizations and leading corporations.  The BLG is responsible for the design, development and implementation of innovative programs and activities that support member efforts to identify, recruit, advance and retain lawyers of color.BLG member firms and organizations are offering a ten-week split clerkship between a private and public sector organization or a full ten-week private sector clerkship to first year law school students of color from historically underrepresented backgrounds. The number of clerkships are determined by the number of placements made available by BLG members. 

Students who submit a completed application will have the opportunity to meet employers at the BLG's Meet & Greet Kick-Off Reception on Thursday, January 20, 2022 hosted virtually via Remo platform. All Applicants are highly encouraged to attend. Invitations will be sent to all Applicants prior to the event.

Program Overview:

Selected clerks will work full-time during the summer at a BLG Member Employer. In addition, each clerk will receive an attorney mentor for the duration of the clerkship. In addition, 1L Diversity Clerks will participate in professional and social activities designed to highlight the benefits of practicing law and living in the progressive and dynamic city of Boston. 

Applicant Requirements: 

 The interested applicant must:

  • Be a first-year law student at a nationally accredited law school;

  • Demonstrate a connection to Boston; and

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

3.  Statement of Interest (one page).  The statement of interest should outline why the 1L Diversity Clerkship would benefit you and any information that will help the Employer get to know you
4.  Completed Employment Option Form.
